Süleymanlı Lake
The total area is 1.05 km2 and its
altitude is 1150 m. It’s in the Sazak Plain within Buldan Town’s border.
The water is fresh and there is a camping area. Hunting is also
permitted.
ÇİVRİL LIGHTED LAKE WATER BIRDS PROTECTION AREA
Isikli Lake is located in the Çivril Plain in the northwest of Dinar. It was taken to the status of Class A Wetland with the International Ramsar Convention. Due to its potential, it has been proposed by Denizli National Park Engineering as "Water Birds Protection Area". About 800 m. at altitude, the area is 3500 ha. It is around. The lake is fed by the Büyük Menderes River, Dark Creek and Kuti Stream. On the east, west and south coasts of the lake, which was fed with water sources coming from the east, were built. For this reason, the water level in the lake has risen and reeds have decreased.
The lake also creates an important living environment for water birds. One of the species hatching in the region; Little Baladan, Pied Heron, Little Egret, Big Egret, Redbud Heron, Paddyman, Brown Goose, Angit, Pasbaş Dalağan, Sea Eagle, Sedge Deluge, Red Hawk, Stilt, Laughing Tern, Mustache Tern, Akkanatli Tern, Prairie Figs specimens. One of the water birds observed in the lake in winter; Lesser Cormorant (max. 390), Great White Fish (max. 140), Sakarca Goose (max. 300), Grizzly Goose (max. 920), Teal (max. 5025), Fishtail (max. 7800), Kepçel (max. .750), Swamp Snipe (max. 1080).
In addition, Sea Eagle, Bearded Vulture, Gökçe Delice, Great Forest Eagle (max. 16), Shah Eagle, Bıyıklı Doğan and Ulu Doğan are the predators wintering in the region. In addition, wild boar and deer that come to drink water from Akdağ are also seen.
Kartal Lake
The lake is on the north side of Mount
Çiçekbaba’ s peak, which is south of Beyağaç Town. Its altitude is 1903
m. The Forest Ministry’s General Directorate of Wild Animals and
National Parks has declared it a protected area. The oldest black pine
trees are here at this lake and its surroundings. The ages of these
black pine trees range from 850 to 1300 years. The lake and national
forest form a rich natural preserve. Kartal Lake is 23 km from Beyağaç
Town, 129 km from Denizli, 110 km from Aphrodisias, 118 km from Muğla
and 36 km from Köyceğiz.
Acı Lake (Çardak Lake)
It’s a tectonically formed
lake. The total area is 41.34 km2. It’s between the towns of Çardak and
Dazkırı, Afyon. The creeks which originate on Mount Sögüt feed the
lake. Its altitude is 836 m. The lake is also called Acı (Bitter) Lake
since the water of the lake consists of much potassium, sodium and
sulfide.
Beylerli (Çaltı) Lake
The lake is not so deep; the
deepest part is only 4 m. It’s 20 km southwest of Acı Lake at an
altitude of 850 m. The lake is fed by Değirmendere and Başpınar Creeks.
There aren’t any fish in the lake.
Karagöl: Its surface area is 0.20 km2, and its altitude
1250 m. It’s a crater lake which is fed by little creeks. The lake is
above Çambaşı Village and Bozkurt Town among the pine trees. Its water
is fresh and drinkable.
Yukarı Dağdere Lake
The lake is surrounded by pine trees in Yukarı Dağdere Village near Honaz Town. The water is fresh and there are fish in it.
Adı güzeller Baraj Lake
Eşen Lake (Beyağaç)
8 km from Beyağaç town center.The dam reservoir and its surroundings, which are at a distance, were taken to the status of resting place in the forest in 1995.Its total area is 231.50 ha.850 m.The water surface of the pond, which is located at a height of 75 ha, is sportive angling.Mirror carp were produced in the pond.Water sports potential is high.Its surroundings are covered with red pine forests.There is no facility in the area.Admission is free, visitor capacity is 500 people per day.
RIVERS
Büyük Menderes
The total length is
529 km, 194 km of which is within Denizli’s border. Its flow rate is
44.32 m3/sec. The source of the river is near Dinar Town. After flowing
through the Işıklı Dam, it passes through Çivril, Çal and Baklan plains,
turns to the north, east of Çal Town, and enters into Güney Town’s
border. It passes through a very thin passageway that is 20 km long
called “Dere Alanı.” It also becomes a waterfall in the Büyük Sarıkaya
area. The electric system of Bekilli Town is also situated there. It
reaches the Aegean Sea in the Dipburnu area, that is, in Balat Village
near Söke District.
Banaz Çayı: Its total length is 170 km, 13 km of
which is in Denizli Border. Electricity for Güney District is provided
from Banaz Çayı. It is called Mill River because there are many mills
along the banks of the River.
Çürüksu: The total length is 101 km, 96 km of which
is in Denizli. Its flow rate is 9.26 m3/sec. The water includes rich
calcium hydro carbonate, which accounts for its Turkish name meaning
“rotten water.” The amount of the water decreases in summer months. It
includes Karaçay and Honaz Creeks. Southeast of Denizli, Gökpınar also
joins them.
Akçay (Bozdoğan Çayı): The total
length is 137 km. 70 km of it is within Denizli’s Border. The flow rate
is 17.37 m3/sec. Its source is in the Bozdağ and Sandraz Mountains. It
is fed by Yeni Dere Creek near Kızılcabölük where it increases its
volume enough to irrigate the Eskere and Bozdoğan Plains.
Dalaman Çayı: Of its total length
of 201 km, 81 km are in Denizli. It’s flow rate is 17.37 m3/sec. It’s
fed by underground waters. It flows through Gireniz Mountain Pass right
after Acıpayam Plain’s border. It reaches the Mediterranean Sea after it
passes through the borders of Muğla and Köyceğiz.
Küfi Çayı: Its total length is 97 km, 32 km of which is in Denizli. It’s flow rate is 3.34 m3/sec. It merges into the Büyük Menderes River.
Hamam Çayı: Its total length is 48
km. 32 km of it is in Denizli Border. Its source is 9 km northeast of
Çeşme Village. It ends 3 km northeast of Adıgüzeller Village.
Gökpınar Çayı: Its length of 38 km
is completely within Denizli. Its flow rate is 2.86 m3/sec. Its source
is 10 km northeast of Tavas Town, and it ends 9 km north of Denizli
Province where it joins the Çürüksu River.
Yeni Dere: The total length within
the border is 70 km. Its flow rate is 2.46 m3/sec. It joins the Akçay 2
km west of Karakaya Village near Kale Town.
Derbent Çayı: Its length within the
border is 32 km. Its flow rate is 1.00 m3/sec. and its source is 6 km
west of Buldan Town. It joins Alaşehir River 16 km north of Buldan Town.
