Botanical Tourism

Mount Honaz National Park and Kartal Lake Pine Forest and Nature Preserve are very suitable for Botanic Tourism. The most important feature of Honaz National Park is its flora. The area has drawn the attention of scientists for 150 years. Because of its flora the area was declared as Nature Preserve in 1995. There are 964 kinds of different plants, 122 of which grow only in Türkiye.

Of these, 43 are native to Mount Honaz.  Kartal Lake and its environs are also very rich in flora. There are many different plants native to that area with scientific value. There are more than 200 kinds of plants in the area. The oldest black pine forest is in this area, which is very important because genetically the black pine trees are very different than other trees. The oldest black pine tree is 1266 years old and the average age of the trees is 250-750 years old. The trees are about 30 meters tall and from 1.35 to 4.25 meters around.
