Good locations for enjoying birds include the lakes of Işıklı,
Süleymanlı, and Acıgöl (Beylerli). Gemiş Town, which is situated in the
ancient city of Anava next to Acıgöl, is especially important because it
is the mating grounds of 203 different kinds of birds including
flamingos and ducks.
Acıgöl - Çaltı (Beylerli) Lake: The lake is located
between Denizli and Dinar on the İzmir - Afyon highway. Its altitude is
836 m. and it covers 16,000 hectares. The lake is 3-4 meters deep in the
winter. Çaltı Lake, southwest of Acıgöl, has fresh water. Fishing is
permittedon about 35 hectares. 203 kinds of birds may be seen in the
Acıgöl-Çaltı lake area. 22 of them come to mate.
Işıklı Lake (Water Fowl Nature Preserve):
It is located in Çivril Plain on the northwest of Dinar District. The
lake was proposed to become a protected area for the birds by the
Denizli National Park Administration. The lake has an important place in
the life cycle of the birds. Some of them come here to mate. Different
kinds of piscivorous birds, ruddy sheldrakes, sea eagles, geese, and red
falcon may be seen. The birds migrate seasonally.
